PreK Coach

We are currently seeking a temporary PreK Coach position for a full-time contract from August 2019 to June 2020. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a high-profile research study, contributing to and gaining experience in the development of an innovative curriculum, training, and coaching system. This project is in partnership with area school districts, and coaching will take place in PreK classrooms within the districts.

This is a full-time temporary position, requiring commitment from August 2019 to June 2020. Must be available primarily during classroom hours (approximately 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday), in addition to time spent in coaching preparation and documentation, and meetings.

Duties include contributing to refining the enhanced Plan-Do-Review® and Conflict Resolution self-regulation curricula and coaching protocol, coaching and teacher training, classroom observation, data collection, and other duties. Qualified candidates will have a B.A. in early childhood education, education, developmental psychology, or related field, in-depth experience with the HighScope Curriculum, mastery of developmentally-appropriate instructional strategies, including adult-child interactions and individualizing instruction, experience with training, coaching, and mentoring teachers, and more. Must have access to reliable transportation to travel to schools.

Project Manager/Post-Doc

We are seeking a Post-Doc/Project Manager to join our team in Summer 2019. The role will be based on a grant awarded to HighScope from the US Department of Education Investing in Innovation (i3) grant: Supporting Preschool and Kindergarten Students’ Self-Regulation Through HighScope Curriculum Enhancements: Plan-Do-Review and Conflict Resolution. The goal of this project is to improve the self-regulation skills of Detroit preschool and kindergarten students by building off the HighScope Perry Preschool Study. This project is in partnership with Detroit Public Schools Community District. Responsibilities include data collection and management, coordinating teacher training and coaching, classroom observation and troubleshooting challenges in fidelity of implementation, data coding and analysis, grant writing, overseeing daily research and evaluation activities, developing and delivering/contributing to conference and or meeting presentations, leading and contributing to writings and publications, hosting teacher and family meetings, and more. A Ph.D. in developmental psychology, early childhood education, or related field is preferred. ABD or a Masters with highly relevant experience will be considered. Must also have experience conducting research in child care centers and/or schools, particularly in low-income, urban communities. Qualified candidates will have knowledge of the early care and education field and achievement/opportunity gap and of the development of and interventions to support self-regulation in young children. Knowledge of early childhood self-regulation literature and classroom-based interventions, including teacher coaching; and of fidelity of implementation and improvement science literature is also desired. Must be proficient in the use and understanding of statistical analysis packages (e.g., SPSS, Stata, SAS, MPlus) and procedures (e.g., HLM, mixed methods, moderation and mediation) and Microsoft Office. Substitute Teachers and Substitute Teacher Assistants

HighScope is currently seeking substitute teachers and substitute teacher assistants for our full-day demonstration preschool program in Ypsilanti, MI. The substitute will work closely with the classroom teachers to implement the curriculum. Substitute teachers must have a Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education/child development. Substitute teacher assistants must have a CDA/Associates degree in early childhood education. Experience with the HighScope Curriculum is preferred.
