HighScope & Gretchen’s House: A Shared Commitment
Gretchen’s House:
HighScope and Gretchen’s House share a commitment to high-quality programs for children. Since 2007, Gretchen’s House has used HighScope’s curriculum, assessment, and professional learning. In 2021, we expanded this relationship, with Gretchen’s House serving as the operating partner for the Demonstration Preschool.
NAEYC:
NAEYC is the foremost professional membership organization committed to transforming the lives of young children and delivering on the promise of high-quality early learning. NAEYC represents tens of thousands of early childhood educators who care for, educate, and work on behalf of young children, birth through age eight. Learn more about NAEYC at www.NAEYC.org. As a Platinum Level Year-Round Sponsor, HighScope provides financial, philosophical, and other relevant support for NAEYC’s important work.
Marshall University:
HighScope and Marshall University have established a collaborative partnership to offer transferable graduate credits for the completion of HighScope’s professional learning courses. This innovative program allows educators to earn transferable college credits while growing their professional skillset, creating a seamless pathway to higher education for early childhood educators. All HighScope professional learning courses are eligible for this transfer credit program.
Detroit Institute of Arts:
The Detroit Institute of Art’s Kids Program provides Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne county children and their caregivers the opportunity to attend a series of programs at the museum to explore art with DIA gallery teachers and learn to make a project of their own in the art-making studio. HighScope has partnered with the DIA to conduct a high-level review of the materials used in their educational programs and provided essential feedback and support for implementing active and developmentally appropriate learning through professional learning and coaching for DIA staff. The HighScope research team is also conducting an evaluation of the program’s 2023–2024 series to collect data regarding preschool teacher and caregiver perceptions of the program.
Detroit Public Television:
In 2018, the Detroit Public Television education team developed a neighborhood model aimed at improving the quality of adult-child interactions and fostering networks between and among caregivers and community partners. HighScope is conducting an evaluation of this model to measure its efficacy based on caregiver perceptions about different components of the neighborhood model (including virtual parent workshops, literacy nights, etc.).
General Motors:
General Motors has partnered with HighScope to improve STEM education for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. With support from General Motors, HighScope has begun development of two brand new STEM kits full of activities and resources for teachers and caregivers of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. The best part? Each kit will contain a family component for even more learning fun at home! Through General Motor’s dedication to high-quality STEM education, HighScope can expand and elevate the curriculum and professional learning resources educators need. This project will bring the power of STEM education to our youngest learners. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting initiative!
