3.5 IACET CEUs

This one-week learning event is the second part of a four-week course designed designed to provide learners with a foundational understanding of the HighScope Preschool Curriculum and support teachers in implementing the curriculum in the classroom with their children. Various curriculum topics are covered each week based on the framework of the HighScope Curriculum and Wheel of Learning. Upon successful completion of this learning event, including all training, daily readings, assignments, and Check My Understanding quizzes, learners will receive 3.5 CEUs and a certificate of completion. All courses in the PCC can stand alone as one- to three-day trainings.

By the end of this learning event, learners will be able to:

• Use adult-child interaction strategies that encourage active learning, including shared control, conversing with children, and entering children’s play.
• Identify methods of incorporating active learning and scaffolding into specific parts of the daily routine, including small- and large-group times, greeting time, and transitions.
• Identify encouragement strategies and describe how to use them in the classroom.
• Construct lesson plans for children by combining knowledge about curriculum content, children’s interests, and developmental levels.
• Discuss the rationale for using ongoing, observational assessment and explain how to write and score objective anecdotes.

Learner Requirements:

Learners are required to participate in all Zoom sessions and activities. Learners will complete a Check My Understanding quiz each day and will need to achieve a score 80% or higher for successful course completion. Upon successful completion of this learning event, learners will receive IACET CEUs and a certificate of completion.

• Course Registration closes two weeks before classes start.  Late registrations cannot be accepted.
• If paying by PO, please complete online registration for all of your participants, and send in a copy of your web order with your PO to fulfillment@highscope.org.
• Participants will receive their welcome email with login instructions 1-2 days before class starts.
• Please provide a current email address to enable course communication.
• HighScope will grant refunds (minus the cost of student materials) to students only if they withdraw from the course prior to its start. Cancellation must be received by email to fulfillment@highscope.org.
