This online learning event provides hands-on experience in observing, recording, and evaluating preschool classroom quality using HighScope’s Classroom Coach.

Classroom Coach is a comprehensive classroom assessment that reflects new science about learning, is compatible with all curricula, and provides programs with:

• Guidance for providing teacher training aimed at increasing student outcomes
• Activities for content areas such as literacy and math and activities for family engagement
• A Coaching Report that helps classroom staff develop a quality improvement plan
• An easy-to-use classroom materials checklist

By the end of this learning event, learners will be able to:

• Use data collection techniques to gather evidence in a preschool classroom.
• Write objective evidence.
• Score each item reliably using collected evidence.

Learner Requirements:

Learners must complete all assignments within the learning event’s timeframe. This includes weekly learning units, reading assignments, Check My Understanding quizzes, discussion posts, and Try It Out assignments. Learners must pass each Check My Understanding with a minimum of 80% or higher and have a total overall score for the learning event of 80% or higher for full credit.

Online instructional activities may be started and stopped at the participant’s leisure over each week, allows learners to complete coursework combined along with and informed by teaching. Learners will need access to a computer with sound and internet access to complete weekly assignments. It is recommended to use the Google Chrome internet browser when navigating through the course. Leaners will also need access to an infant-toddler classroom to complete discussion and Try It Out assignments.
