Madeline Chimka, Ed.D.

Dr. Chimka is the assistant executive director of Research, Evaluation, and Development (RED) at HighScope Educational Research Foundation. She joined HighScope in 2020 as a project manager to support HighScope’s work on the US Department of Education’s Investing in Innovation (i3)project, aimed at understanding the impacts of new strategies, coaching, and training to support preschool and kindergarten children’s self-regulation development. She leads evaluation projects in partnership with community organizations, including projects with the Ypsilanti District Library, the Detroit Institute of Art, and Detroit Public Broadcasting Station (PBS). Dr. Chimka completed her Ed.D. in Education Policy and Leadership at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, where she previously taught for Metro Nashville Public Schools. Her previous research, management, and policy roles focused on community-based participatory methods, wellness programming, and school leadership. She is passionate about developmentally appropriate programming and policies, sustainable investments in schools and teachers, the symbiotic relationship between health and learning, and strengthening partnerships between research, policy, and practice.
