In 1996, educator Antarina S.F. Amir introduced the HighScope Approach to Indonesia, bringing active learning to children through the HighScope Indonesia Institute. After receiving training from HighScope Singapore and completing the program requirements at HighScope Headquarters in Ypsilanti, Michigan, she launched the institute with just eight preschool students in Pondok Indah, Jakarta. HighScope Indonesia aimed to respond to a broader societal need for a research, based, child development-focused educational model that prioritized active learning. HighScope Indonesia now includes campuses across Jakarta and beyond, serving thousands of students nationwide.
