Director of Early Learning Initiatives
Deborah Bodrick is the Director of Early Learning Initiatives at HighScope Educational Research Foundation. In this role, Ms. Bodrick supports the HighScope Demonstration Preschool and oversees HighScope’s Business Development team.
Ms. Bodrick has been a passionate educator and leader in the field of early childhood education for more than 30 years. She has used her extensive knowledge of early childhood to provide quality programs for children and their families as the lead administrator for early childhood education in San Francisco, Dallas, and Detroit school systems.
Ms. Bodrick began her teaching career in New York City (NYC) and then served as a teacher specialist with the NYC Board of Education, ensuring that pre-K teachers implemented the HighScope Curriculum with fidelity. She became an early childhood supervisor within the NYC system and provided support for district and school administrators in pre-K through third grade.
Later in her career, as a Head Start early childhood director in NYC, Ms. Bodrick used her knowledge of Head Start to build collaborative discussions among Head Start and state-funded early childhood programs. Her most recent position as a principal with the Pontiac City School District of a districtwide Great Start Readiness Program afforded her the opportunity to work on a daily basis with teachers, parents, and school district staff.
Ms. Bodrick received her BS in elementary education from Virginia State University and MA in early childhood education from the Bank Street College of Education. She earned a professional degree in educational leadership from Brooklyn College.
