Making a Gift:
The development staff at HighScope Foundation will be happy to discuss gift options with you and your family in greater detail. We can provide samples and illustrations showing the possible impact of each type of gift. We will discuss your particular objectives and seek to identify options that help you achieve them. Please discuss specific plans with your own legal and/or financial advisor.

Our legal name is HighScope Educational Research Foundation; we are a 501(c)(3) tax exempt nonprofit organization incorporated in the state of Michigan.
HighScope's mission is big, but it is clear: to change the trajectory of the world, one child at a time. This takes passionate people, ready to roll up their sleeves. It takes driven educators who truly want to make a difference. It takes visionary leaders, dedicated to the long view. Our research has proven it in practice. And our results have shown the extraordinary impact, long into the future. How do we do it? We engage. We play. We encourage. We teach the teachers. And then we study the results day to day and decade to decade.
The vision of HighScope's founder, Dr. David P. Weikart, lives on through the generosity of hundreds of public and private foundations, and donors throughout the world. With the support of concerned citizens, HighScope continues to make a difference in the lives of children, youth, and families by providing curriculum development, research, training, publishing, and communication. HighScope's programs have a world-wide reach. Please consider participating in this important work.
Ways to give to HighScope Educational Research Foundation
While gifts of cash are the most common way of supporting the HighScope Foundation, many other types of assets can be donated outright with substantial tax savings.
Gifts of appreciated securities held long term (12 months) may allow you to avoid capital gains tax and receive a tax deduction for the full fair market value of the gift.
Gifts of appreciated real estate held long term may entitle you to an income tax deduction for the full fair market value of the real estate. It is also possible to make a gift of a second home, reserving the right to occupy it for as long as you or your spouse live.
Closely Held Stock:
A gift of closely held stock may produce a current income tax charitable deduction equal to the fair market value of the stock.
Pledges are customarily payable over a one- to three-year period. A pledge allows you to choose the payment schedule that best meets your needs, and is deductible in the year in which it is paid.
Many employers have established matching gift plans that allow current and retired employees to have their charitable gifts matched by the employer. Please check with your human resource department to see if your company provides matching gifts.
Bequests and gifts through wills:
In planning your estate, remember that an outright bequest to HighScope Foundation, as well as certain bequests in a trust, are not subject to estate tax. Because these gifts reduce the size of your estate, they also reduce the size of your federal and state estate taxes.
